Do you have an irresistible desire to speed around on the snow, through breathtaking landscapes and wildlife? If your answer is yes, then this is the perfect adventure holiday for you! During this exciting multi-activity week - which includes reindeer herding, snowmobiling, dog-sledding and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing - you will submerge yourself in the surrounding nature as you drive through snow-covered fells and test your reindeer driving skills on a sled ride through unchartered forest. The snowmobiles used for this tour are fitted with eco-friendly, fuel economic engines - omitting a third of the fuel emissions as compared to other two-stroke engines - and are therefore kinder to the environment. Plus for every holiday booked, a donation of €50 is made to save the old forests of Muonio National Park.
Day 1 - Arrival
Fly from the UK to Kittilä airport via Finnish Lapland. Transfer by bus to Muonio Harriniva Holiday Centre. Line up with the safari group to discuss the exciting programme for the days ahead. Dinner in the restaurant and overnight in cosy double rooms in Harriniva.
4 nights MUONIO - Harriniva Holiday Centre (HB)
Day 2 - Day as a reindeer herder
After breakfast you will visit a reindeer farm and learn all there is about this wonderful creature. You will learn how to catch the reindeer with the Lappish lasso and test your reindeer driving skills on a sled drive through the forest (one or two persons per sled). Then lunch served by an open fire during the safari before returning to Harriniva, where a warm sauna will be waiting for you. In the evening, dinner will be served in the hotel.
Day 3 - Snowmobile day
An adventurous day of snowmobiling awaits you. An experienced guide will give you driving and safety instructions for your snowmobile and you will soon be speeding through miles upon miles of snow covered forests and over frozen lakes before stopping for lunch by an open fire in the wilderness. Duration of the excursion approx. 5 hrs, distance driven 60-80 km. You will have time to unwinding after the day’s activities as a sauna and dinner awaits you back in Harriniva in the evening.
Day 4 - Free day
You are free to explore the area and indulge in your own activities.
Day 5 - Night in Wilderness
After breakfast you will pack your equipment for a 2-day tour and get acquainted with the huskies! You will visit the Harriniva Arctic Sleddog Centre and the husky guide will teach you how to handle the sled and you will meet your team of 4-5 dogs that accompany you for the 2 day safari. Lunch is held by an open fire en route. Driving distance is about 25 km to the wilderness hut where you will have a sauna and dinner.
1 night HARRINIVA - Wilderness Hut (FB)
Day 6 - Husky safari
In the morning you will continue the husky safari for around 25-30 km then lunch is held by an open fire en route. Return to Harriniva Holiday Centre in the afternoon for a relaxing sauna followed by a special farewell dinner with delicious Lappish dishes.

Day 7 - Departure
Breakfast and transfer to Kittilä airport for return flight to UK.

A family run business established in 1973 and providing versatile accommodation and restaurant services. 46 rooms for 2-3 guests with shower and WC, 6 spacious rooms for 2-6 guests with sauna, shower and WC - all non-smoking and decorated in a wilderness style. 12 two storey apartment rooms with shower, WC, kitchenette, TV and drying cupboard for clothes. Cabins available on request. The hotel has three cosy restaurants including one with a fireplace and a new Pub providing the ideal place for pre-dinner drinks or to relax after a safari. 'Aurora Wellness' - the sauna and wellness area of Harriniva offers well-being services in natural surroundings, using natural treatments and products. Well-being treatments such as massage, dry cupping, peat treatments and a variety of facial treatments. By the river there are two hot tubs and two steam baths an ice hole and a newly renovated sauna department with two saunas and a room for relaxation. There are two large shared saunas and one sauna for families in the main building.
Please note that this program is only suitable for children aged 15 years or more. You must hold a full driving licence to drive a snowmobile in Finland and this must be taken with you for the trip.
No particular level of fitness is required for this tour but a sense of adventure is definitely a bonus!
Insurance for the snowmobile includes own liability of maximum €600.
