Centrally located in the heart of Tromsø. Its unique location in the wharf, looking out across the Tromsøsundet (sound), has a broad view over the harbour, Arctic Cathedral and the Tromsø Bridge. The hotel has two restaurants and two bars and all rooms are equipped with extremely comfortable beds, TV, telephone, mini-bar, trouser-press and hairdryer. Lift to all floors. A fabulous buffet breakfast is served with a made-to-order omelette station, cold cuts of meat to raw fish, a cooked breakfast and fruit and muesli.
Situated in the middle of Longyearbyen close to pubs, restaurant, the bank and shopping mall. The lodge is furnished with drift wood, slate stones and furs giving the feeling of entering a Spitsbergen hunter’s cottage. No rooms are alike, except for the comfortable beds and bathrooms. Breakfast is served around the long table in Traveller’s Club and the Cognac Attic, with its ceiling of glass, gives you a perfect view of the arctic light. Restaurants and pub within close proximity.
The radio station is newly renovated and has charming and cosy rooms, a lounge with a fireplace and a unique and extremely interesting history. Isfjord Radio used to link Spitsbergen with the rest of the world. As a frontier weather and communications station it has a legendary status in Norway. Until the advent of fiber-optic cables it was the sole radio and telecommunications hub – the lifeline - for the otherwise isolated people of Svalbard. The area surrounding the radio station has an exceptional animal life and a bird reserve where we find nesting birds right up to the station’s walls. As well as a wide variety of bird species, you will also be able to see reindeer and Arctic fox, as well as maybe a glimpse of the polar bear. The settlement has 23 rooms with shared bathrooms in the corridor. Dinner is served in the restaurant.
The ‘Noorderlicht’ is a two-masted schooner which has been modernised and equipped for cruises around Svalbard during the summer yet is stationery, frozen in ice during the winter. The comfortable two- master schooner is the ideal ship for those who are into adventures! The deckhouse and saloon below deck are spacious. Here you find ten twin-cabins. Every cabin is equipped with 80x200cm bunk beds, hot/cold running water and a 220V power point. Five toilets and four showers are for shared use. The Chef prepares tasty meals in the galley and in the deckhouse you will find an excellent selection of books about Spitsbergen and Norway. The crew consists of five members: Captain, 1st Mate, 2nd Mate, Chef, and Expedition Leader.
