This tour focuses on guided day tours from Akureyri in the north and Hella in the south, with two choices of accommodation- tourist and superior standard. Staying in just two resorts means a lot less packing and more free time to enjoy yourself!
This tour features so much of what you will have heard, read or seen about Iceland but still offers enough free time to take your breath!
Day 1
Arrive Keflavik Airport by air from the UK. Transfer to your hotel.
1 night REYKJAVIK - Leifur Eiriksson **plus or Reykjavik Centrum **** (BB)
Day 2
Morning departure from the guesthouse. We explore Hraunfossar waterfalls. Europe's most powerful hot spring and climb the Grábrók crater mountain in West Iceland. After a visit to Glaumbær Turf Farm we travel along fjords and over moutains to Akureyri - the capital of North Iceland.
5 nights AKUREYRI - Edda Hotel *** or Hotel Kea **** (BB)
Day 3
Morning walk in Akureyri and a visit to the botanical garden with an afternoon excursion by bus and ferry to Hrisey Island.
Day 4
Full day excursion to Goðafoss waterfall and Lake Mývatn, known for its rich bird life and extraordinary volcanic lava landscapes.
Day 5
A day excursion to Iceland´s most northern town, Sigluförður, known as the herring capital of Iceland and spectacular fjord landscape.
Day 6
Húsavik is a picturesque small fishing town in Northeast Iceland where you can join an optional whale watching cruise or visit some of the many museums. In the afternoon we travel to Jökulsárgljúfur National Park and visit the horseshoe shaped canyon of Asbyrgi and Dettifoss, Europe´s most powerful waterfall.
Day 7
We travel through the interior of Iceland, between the glaciers Langjökull and Hofsjökull. We experience the vast desert landscapes and the hot springs of Hveravellir, where you have the opportunity to take a natural hot bath. Hella in South Iceland is our base for the next six nights.
6 nights HELLA - Fosshotel Mosfell **plus or Hotel Ranga ****
Day 8
We visit the glaciers, waterfalls, bird cliffs and lava beaches of South Iceland. You have free time for an optional glacier walk or visit the area of Skogar together with your guide.
Day 9
We travel alongside the Hekla volcano and visit the Hjálparfoss waterfall, the Viking farm ruins at Stöng and enjoy a leisurely hike to Gjáin which appears to be like an oasis in this moon landscape.
Day 10
Full day tour to Skaftafell National Park, travel alongside Iceland´s highest mountains and Europe´s largest glacier to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon with floating icebergs.
Day 11
Ferry trip to the Westman Islands where we explore, on foot, the villiage of Heimaey. You then enjoy the afternoon on your own exploring the island.
Day 12
Today we visit Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and þingvellir National Park.
Day 13
Hot springs, lava fields, amazing bird cliffs and moon landscapes are today´s itinerary. After an optional visit to the Blue Lagoon we return to Reykjavik for a city tour.

Day 14
Transfer to Keflavik Airport for return flight to UK.
