Biskupstungur Holiday Cottages

Biskupstungur (Bishop’s Tongue) offers a number of self-

catering holiday homes locates within easy driving

distance of some of south Iceland’s most famous

landmarks; Gullfoss and Geysir areas, Þingvellir

National Park, Hekla Volcano and Lake Laugarvatn.

 

Situated only 5 miles north of the tiny village of Reykholt, northeast of Selfoss, which has its own hot spring that spouts every 10 minutes. The accommodation is situated on the road leading to Gullfoss and Geysir and the three cottages (Sveitasetrid) consist of two bedrooms, the main bedroom having a double queen sized bed and the other having two sets of bunk beds (6 persons max), a living room and kitchen. There is a shower and WC, TV and video, microwave, fridge, gas grill and gas barbeque. Groceries can be purchased at the nearest large town of Selfoss which has a supermarket, restaurants and cafes and a geothermally heated swimming pool with water slides although Reykholt can provide basic foodstuffs such as milk and bread.

All bedding and towels are provided and included in the holiday price. The added bonus is your own personal hot tub which can accommodate up to 7 people!

The location of the cottages is in the location of some of Iceland´s most famous landmarks: Þingvelli national park, Lake Laugarvatn, Gullfoss waterfalls, Geysir and the Skalholt bishopric. Each cottage has 2 bedrooms a living room, good sized kitchen and a bathroom. The main bedroom has a double queen size bed. The main second bedroom has two very good beds and very good upper beds (bunkbeds). There is a TV, video, microwave oven and a good sized refrigerator. Hot tub and gas grill. Every cottage comes ready with made up beds, towels, shampoo, and soap.
