Skåne is one of Sweden’s most beautiful provinces,

framed by the sea on three sides with hills, cliffs,

forest and great plains.

The southerly location, mild weather and history have created a region with its own distinctive character and made Skåne a small country within a country - Swedish, Danish, Continental - but most of all Scanian!

The Österlen (southeast) region, with its undulating golden fields of rape, offers idyllic fishing hamlets with cobbled lanes and pastel coloured houses. The medieval market town of Ystad has many well-preserved half-timbered houses and magnificent 19th Century palaces and more recently has been the location for Henning Mankell’s stories about Inspector Wallander. Outside the town are 40 kms of long, sandy beaches, perfect for lazy walks with a picnic at any time of day.

Northwest Skåne fits an amazing amount into a small area; the varied nature offers many natural gems including the nature reserves of Kullaberg and Hovs Hallar and Söderåsen National Park. There are more than 60 working potters and potteries with workshops featuring demonstrations and numerous delightful tea/coffee shops in hidden corners offering homemade cakes and biscuits with a view! Sofiero Palace, with its majestic views over the Sound and Denmark is one of the most visited in Sweden showcasing the magnificent gardens of King Gustav VI Adolf. So much to do or not to do.......that is the question!
