Snuggle up around a roaring log fire in your very own snow covered, traditional log cabin.
These beautiful log cabins are situated close to the Arctic Circle near the border between Sweden and Finland. In this wilderness region three cultures meet; Finnish, Swedish and Sámi (Lapp) forming part of a region often referred to as Lapland. Here, around the Arctic Circle, Lapland is at its best and cleanest, with deep forests, mighty rivers and mountains along the horizon. During the winter months the etheral Northern Lights can be seen winding their way above the fells and the winter landscape of the north is bathed in a dim twilight.
Glistening snow and picturesque wooden houses create a magical picture and provde the perfect setting from which to enjoy some exciting winter activities. Perfect for families and friends travelling together.
Day 1
Fly from the UK to Luleå in Sweden (via Stockholm). Either met on arrival and transferred to the Polarctis Lodge in Överkalix (approx. 80 mins) or collect your hire car from the airport and drive to Överkalix. Check-in to your traditional log cabin.

Day 8
Transfer or drive to Luleå Airport for return flights to the UK.
Departure Day: Daily (NB. there are direct flights to Luleå on Saturdays. Alternative days travel via Stockholm).

Polarctis Lodge, Överkalix

Situated approximately one hour north of Luleå in the Kalix Valley, the lodge offers accomodation in very comfortable, natural, log cabins situated in light forest with a view of the deep-blue Kesas lake. Cabins have galleried upper floors and accommodate up to 6 people with their own sauna, bathroom, cosy living room area with open-fire and fully-equipped kitchen. Each cabin has its own verandah with a lovely view of the unspoilt nature of this region. Very traditional. NB. The lodge do not currently accept credit cards.
Description: Enjoy the liberating feeling of chasing across snow-covered plains and frozen lakes on a snowmobile. No previous experience is necessary. We first show you how to safely control the vehicle – and then we’re off! All of our tours take us through the impressive winter landscape of Swedish Lapland.
Depending on the length of the trip we make one or more stops, in order to warm up and bolster our energy. After hours rich with experiences we return tired but happy to the POLARCTIS Lodge, where we head to the Grillkota to grill sausages on the open fire, drink coffee and chat about our shared adventure.
Price: 2 hour trip, £112 per person (2 people per vehicle), £143 per person (1 person per vehicle);
4 hour trip: £190 per person (2 people per vehicle), £245 per person (1 person per vehicle).

Description: As soon as the first snowflakes start to fall, the huskies detect that the first dog sled tour is just around the corner. Winter is their season, when they are capable of delivering unsurpassed performance. Standing behind your team of huskies as the musher is an adventure every time. Man and dog united in the snowy and breathtaking natural environs of Swedish Lapland; the hectic stress of everyday life is long forgotten.
All tours are suitable for beginners, although it is necessary to be in good physical condition. Otherwise you will be quickly out of breath with our four-legged bundles of energy.
After an introduction to the world of the musher, you greet your dogs and work together to attach them to your sled. The huskies can hardly wait to finally set off, and they demonstrate this loudly and impatiently. All dog sled tours take you through the romantic winter landscape of the north. After hours rich with experiences you return tired but happy to the POLARCTIS Lodge. Once here you first take care of our team before heading to the Grillkota to grill sausages on the open fire, drink coffee and recover from your shared adventure.

Price: £192 per person (2 hours), £236 per person (4 hours). Prices are based on 2 people per sled, one as passenger and one as musher - swap around during tour. Supplements for solo travelling: £44 (2 hours), £86 (4 hours). Prices include: instruction and safety information, guided dog sled tour, equipment (overall, gloves), food and drink.
Description: Travel with snowmobiles to a romantic lake which provides an excellent spot for ice fishing. Hot drinks are laid on in order to keep you nice and warm. Hopefully, after succeeding in landing a catch, you return to the Polarctis Lodge where you head to the Grillkota to grill sausages on the open fire, drink coffee and chat about your angling success!!

Price Includes: guided ice fishing tour, equipment (snowmobile, overalls, gloves, face mask, helmet and ice fishing equipment), food and drink.

Description: After a professional introduction you set of from the Polarctis Lodge on your snowshoe tour in the surrounding forests. With a bit of luck you encounter the native animal world. Upon reaching an isolated cabin you eat a small meal around an open fire and warm yourselves up with hot drinks. Freshly rejuvenated, the fun continues! Once back at the lodge you are welcomed into the Grillkota with coffee and pastries to recover from your adventure!
