Multi-activity adventure! 

The Viking Challenge tour is filled with exciting adventure activities that are not only great fun but also provide an insight into Iceland's culture and daily life. The tour is based in Reykjavik with a choice of accommodation ranging from guesthouses to first class hotels.

Multi-sport activities include white water rafting, glacial hiking and ice climbing, ATV riding, horseback riding, whale watching and hiking. And to top it all off, entrance to the relaxing Blue Lagoon to ease those muscles and a Reykjavik treasure hunt are also included!

On completion of the tour, participants will receive a special Viking Challenge certificate highlighting their achievement.

The Viking Challenge

Day 1 - Arrival

Depart London Heathrow Airport or Manchester Airport for Keflavik Airport. On arrival transfer to your guesthouse or hotel.

Day 2 - Golden Circle & White Water Rafting

Today you will visit Þingvellir National Park, Geysir hot springs and Gullfoss Waterfall before travelling to one of Iceland´s glacial rivers for a 2 hour white river rafting experience through exciting rapids and deep gorges. Lunch included. Duration 10 hours.

Day 3 - Glacier Hiking & Ice Climbing

See the lovely landscape of South Iceland, including the dramatic Skógafoss Waterfall. You will experience glaciers on a 4 hour guided glacial walk and ice climbing adventure. Packed lunch included. Duration 9 hours.

Day 4 - ATV Ride & the Blue Lagoon

The moon or Iceland? Decide for yourself during a 3-4 hour ATV adventure on the volcanic Reykjanes peninsula and the Mid-Atlantic ridge. During the afternoon soak your muscles with a relaxing bathe at the famous Blue Lagoon....bliss. Duration 9-10 hours.

Day 5 - Horses & Whales

In the morning you can explore Reykjavik on your own or visit one of the many geothermal swimming pools. Midday you´ll have a 2½ to 3 hour ride on Iceland´s famous horses (less experienced riders have a shorter option). In the afternoon you´ll have a whale and bird watching cruise from Reykjavik harbour. Duration 9 hours. Light lunch included.

Day 6 - Leisure Day

It's time to relax, shop, visit museums, discover the city on your own or select an optional excursion or activity tour.

Day 7 - Hiking Challenge

Today you will see Iceland on your own two feet with a 3-4 hour hike into the mountains and volcanic landscape of Southwest Iceland. Hiking distance about 7 kms. Duration with transfers about 6 hours.

Day 8 - Departure

Transfer to Keflavik Airport for return flight to the UK.

Fosshotel Lind***

Conveniently situated, this friendly hotel is less than a minutes walk from the city's main shopping street and one of its main bus stations, and only a short stroll from the Reykjavik Municipal Art Museum. All rooms have shower/wc, wireless internet available, flat screen TV with an inbuilt DVD player, radio and phone. Ensure you take advantage of the free continental breakfast before you embark upon the day's activities! 


Grand Hotel, Reykjavik ****

Grand Hotel Reykjavik is the largest hotel in Iceland with a total of 312 rooms, and with a size so grand, this enables guests to enjoy panaramic views of the city. All of the hotel rooms are very spacious and equipped with first-class amenities, including an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, large beds, satellite TV, mini-bar, hair dryer, iron & iron board, and safe. After a day of exploring, you may want to indulge in the first-class à la Carte restaurant, Brasserie Grand which offers a varied menu to suit every need. Its chefs offer both international delights and mouth-watering, fresh Icelandic seafood specialities, whether you prefer a quick bite or a full 4-course dinner menu.


Guesthouse Borgartun **
Situated approx. 30 minutes walk from the centre of Reykjavik on the upper floors above Guðmundur Jónasson Travel. All rooms have shower, hairdryer and TV. There is a comfortable sitting room with TV and internet facilities. Swimming pool with hot pots and steam bath just 10 minutes walk. Enjoy the Buffet breakfast before your day begins.

Hotel Reykjavik Centrum ****

Hotel Centrum, Reykjavik

Comprising three 18th century style buildings in the centre of Reykjavik, this charming hotel was newly opened in 2005 and consists of 89 elegantly decorated en-suite rooms all with satellite and pay TV, cable and wireless internet, mini-bar, room safe, hairdryer, ironing board and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has its own restaurant serving lunch and dinner and a bar/cafe offering light refreshments.


Hotel Reykjavik***

N. B. Due to the very active nature of this tour it is only really suitable for children aged 14 and over. For details of the Viking Challenge for families, with children from 6 and over, please ask a member of our team.

Group Size:  Guaranteed departures with a minimum of 2 people. The sequence of activities may be altered in some cases.

Important: Good hiking boots, warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, hat, gloves and a towel are needed for this trip.

Minimum ages & activity difficulty level:
* River Rafting: 12 years (Children 10 + 11 years old can do half of the river rafting program)
* Glacier hike & ice climbing: 14 years or fitting crampons that is for hiking shoe number european 35/36
* ATV-Ride: Valid driving license for driver / minimum age 10 for passenger
* Horseback riding: included program is for experienced riders but there is a shorter option for less experienced riders or beginners
* Hiking: For everybody that is fit to hike at least 6 hours, about 17 km
