Harriniva is located south of Muonio village, near the Pallas Yllästunturi National Park in Finland and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Its situation, well north of the Arctic Circle, is an ideal spot from which to view the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights.
Harriniva Holiday Centre is a family run business providing a high standard of accommodation, facilities and cuisine along with a programme of winter safaris in beautiful unspoilt nature. The resort has a sauna and spa area, 'Aurora Wellness', offering a broad selection of body and facial treatments. There are two outdoor hot tubs overlooking the river, two steam baths, an ice hole (for those who dare!) and, of course (after all this is Finland), a full sauna department.
The main Lappish activities - snowmobile safari and husky safari are included - however there is plenty of free time to relax or choose additional activities. Plus you have the option to spend the first night of your stay in the hotel's Snow Igloo - retaining your hotel room just in case!
A real treat for those who want to combine winter activities with relaxation.
Day 1 (Saturday)
Fly from the UK to Kittilä Airport via Helsinki. Transfer by bus to Muonio Harriniva Holiday Centre and check-in. Tonight we have reserved a 'room' in the hotel's Snow Igloo for you, however your hotel room is retained in case you chicken out during the night...!

Day 3 (Monday)
At noon you will meet your guide who will provide you with instructions and safety regulations regarding driving snowmobiles. After that you will start the safari through forests and frozen lakes, the perfect fell scenery. Driving distance is approx. 30 kms. You will be driving 2 persons per snowmobile. In the afternoon free time to go sking by your own or to book additional tours. After the active day a relaxing sauna is waiting for you.

Day 4 (Tuesday)
Shortly after breakfast you will meet with your guide and a team of happy huskies - there are over 400 husky dogs in the husky farm! After a guided tour of the farm and driving and safety instructions you will start the two hour husky safari - 2 persons per husky team. The driving distance is approx. 17 kms. Afternoon free for optional activities or relaxation and, of course, the sauna!

Free day with the option to go skiing, snowshoeing or alternative optional activity.

Harriniva Holiday Centre

A family run business established in 1973 and providing versatile accommodation and restaurant services. 46 rooms for 2-3 guests with shower and WC, 6 spacious rooms for 2-6 guests with sauna, shower and WC - all non-smoking and decorated in a wilderness style. 12 two storey apartment rooms with shower, WC, kitchenette, TV and drying cupboard for clothes. Cabins available on request. The hotel has three cosy restaurants including one with a fireplace and a new Pub providing the ideal place for pre-dinner drinks or to relax after a safari. 'Aurora Wellness' - the sauna and wellness area of Harriniva offers well-being services in natural surroundings, using natural treatments and products. Well-being treatments such as massage, dry cupping, peat treatments and a variety of facial treatments. By the river there are two hot tubs and two steam baths an ice hole and a newly renovated sauna department with two saunas and a room for relaxation. There are two large shared saunas and one sauna for families in the main building.
Description: Spend a full day with the huskies on this 25 kms long tour through the amazing Lappish landscape. Picnic lunch is prepared on a fire. Each person drives his/her own sled.

Description: Visit an Old Lappish Manor House and learn about the way of the old days. The reindeer herding has been practised in the family for over a century. Programme includes lunch in a Lappish tepee 'kota'.
