A wonderful journey along the Norwegian coastline from Bergen, gateway to the fjords, to Tromsø, capital of Arctic Norway.

The voyage begins in Bergen and after making several brief calls along the unspoilt coastline, heads across the open sea to the delightful Art Nouveau town of Ålesund.

Trondheim, Norway's former ancient capital city is the next major stop and is a complete contrast with its wooden buildings, including the impressive 18th century Stiftsgården Palace, brightly painted wharves and warehouses and the 14th century Nidaros Cathedral.

Crossing the Arctic Circle is an event to celebrate before approaching the mystical Lofoten Islands and their 'capital' town, Svolvær. The Lofoten Islands have long captivated writers and artists alike with their grandeur and beauty.   The voyage continues to Tromsø with its magnificent Arctic Cathedral.

There is the opportunity to extend your stay in either Bergen or Tromsø (or both).  Bergen is Norway's second city and has a charming harbour overlooked by beautiful Hanseatic buildings, now housing shops, restaurants, bars and coffee shops.  Tromsø is the starting point for so many polar expeditions and offers numerous exciting winter activity possibilities.

Christmas and New Year Voyages

Christmas Voyage
 If you travel on 23rd December you will be onboard the ship to celebrate Christmas. In accordance with Norwegian tradition, Christmas will be celebrated on 24th December and you will be invited to sample traditional festive delicacies whilst carols are sung around the Christmas tree.

New Year Voyage
 If you travel with m.s. Polarlys on 27th December 2006 you will arrive at Tromsø in time for the New Year celebrations. An extra night in Tromsø is included for this departure allowing you to welcome 2007 in true style. A special New Year's concert will be held in the Arctic Cathedral followed by a 3 course evening meal and drinks reception.
ITINERARY
Day 1. Fly to Bergen where you will be met by our private transfer service and transferred to the Coastal Voyage Quay for embarkation. The ship departs from Bergen at 2200. Dinner and overnight onboard ship.
Days 2 - 4. Enjoy the voyage and some of its 20 ports of call, from the smaller fishing communities to larger towns.
Day 5. Arrive Tromsø mid afternoon, transfer to the airport for your international flight back to the UK.

Prices are in £s per person and include: Return Economy flights from London Heathrow with SAS incl. applicable taxes and charges, voyage in twin cabin incl. half-board, transfers as appropriate and a tour manager whilst onboard ship.

Excursions
Husky Dog Safari from Tromsø
A wonderful journey by husky dog sled into the wilderness surrounding Tromsø. Either sit in the sled covered with reindeer skins and enjoy the view or mush your own team of dogs! Your experience also includes either lunch or dinner (depending on your chosen departure time) in a Sami tent around an open fire. Two departures daily, 1000 or 1830, duration approx. 4 hours. It is worth noting that the 1830 departure may also offer the opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Price per adult £105, price per child £52.
Overnight in the Lyngen Alps and Snowscooter Safari from Tromsø
A wonderful adventure! Afternoon departure by bus on the old pack-horse route across the Lyngen Alps and the Lyngenfjord before embarking on a snow-scooter safari(duration approx. 3 hours), each person with their own snow-scooter. Return to your traditional cosy cabin for dinner and a night in the wilderness with the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights. Return to Tromsø after breakfast the next morning.
