Denmark

A holiday in Denmark gathers a delightful mix of city life and relaxing countryside. Its cosmopolitan and lively capital city, offers a vibrant selection of things to do and see.

Denmark is the smallest and most southern of the Scandinavian countries, connected to continental Europe at the southern peninsula and bordered to the east bythe Baltic Sea and the west by the North Sea. Because Denmark is considerably smaller than most countries this means a holiday here enables you to discover many places without travelling very far - and a holiday to Denmark doesn't stop at Copenhagen - we also suggest the quaint city of Odense, home to Hans Christian Andersen, the author of such classic children's books 'The Ugly Duckling, 'Thumbelina' and 'The Little Mermaid'.

Denmark boasts numerous quaint little towns lined with half-timbered houses, medieval churches and Renaissance castles along with a lovely coastline peppered with tiny fishing villages and long white-sand beaches. Its history is also preserved in a number of Viking ruins, including the fleet of Viking ships that were excavated from the Roskilde Fjord and the 'bog' people's 2000 year old preserved bodies. For such a small country there is much to see and do - although we recommend relaxing for part of the time too!
