Voss and Balestrand are two of western Norway’s most popular resorts.

Balestrand is a picturesque village set in a broad panorama of magnificent scenery standing as it does on a short promontory of farmland backed by towering, snow-capped mountains and overlooking the mighty Sognefjord. Its little quay is a port of call for express boats, various fishing and commercial vessels and bus services operating in all directions offering visitors ample opportunity to explore the Sognefjord region on leisurely day trips. For walkers and hikers there are few places to compete with Balestrand.

Voss overlooks Lake Vang and is actually quite large with a mixture of old and new. Whilst Voss has developed an excellent product for tourism it is still a living community with a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and local businesses and is an excellent centre for those wishing to explore using the public transport system. Those looking for a relaxing holiday with gentle walks along the lakeside and a possible day excursion to the Hardangerfjord will be more than happy, however Voss is also home to a number of quality activity companies offering an excellent selection of outdoor activities.

We have linked Balestrand and Voss by including the famous Flåm Mountain Railway and a lovely fjord 'cruise'. The final night is spent in Bergen for a leisurely departure the following day.
