Set on an island, well within the Arctic Circle, the city has a bustling city centre; Storgata is the main street and the hub of the city with numerous shops, restuarants, cafe, bars and people gathering around the clock. The main square, Stortorget, is the site of a daily open-air market and is only a stone's throw from the lively harbour where you will find fresh fish for sale directly from the fishing vessels that brought them in! The harbour is also a main port of call for the twice daily arrival of the Hurtigruten, Norway's famous 'Coastal Voyage' vessel.
Much of Tromsø's old wooden architecture has been preserved and the distinctive Domkirke is a reminder of Tromsø's prosperous trading history. By constrast is Ishavskatedralen (the Ice Sea Cathedral), an imposing modern construction in glass and concrete which has become the city's modern landmark.
Central attractions include: Polaria, a knowledge based adventure centre; Fjellheisen, the cable car up to Storsteinen with a fantastic view of the city and distrinct and a popular restaurant; Mack Brewery, the world's northermost brewery; the Botantical Garden's and Tromsø Kunstforening.

A lovely, traditional hotel situated right on the pier in Tromsø harbour and within all of Tromsø's main sights. The harbour lights up beautifully in the evening and provides a beautiful plateau for chance sightings of the northen lights! The hotel has a restaurant, cocktail lounge and offers afternoon tea. There is a sauna for guests' use and rooms are non-smoking and accessible through via a lift.

Centrally located in the heart of Tromsø. Its unique location in the wharf, looking out across the Tromsøsundet (sound), has a broad view over the harbour, Arctic Cathedral and the Tromsø Bridge. Description: An excursion dedicated to the Sami culture. Seated together inside a Sami family lavvu, you hear folk tales and learn about Sami culture and history, including an introduction to traditional Sami Handicrafts. A warm meal based on Sami traditions is served. You learn about the handling of wild reindeer and lasso throwing. A genuine Sami guide will accompany you.

Description: You will be driven to the coast of the Whale island, where you have a splendid view across the surrounding ocean and the archipelago.
