An unforgettable exploration of the Lofoten Islands –

a landscape famed for its stark beauty filled with

jagged peaks gazing over the Arctic Ocean.

The Lofoten Islands are part of the beautiful archipelago in Norway’s north west, beyond the Arctic Circle, whose mystical beauty has inspired writers and artists for many years. Being within the Arctic Circle means that you are in prime location for viewing the Northern Lights - the world's most sought after celestial display.

This is a wonderful holiday, perfect for those wanting to experience some of the world's most awe inspiring scenery, and absorb the very special history, culture and nature that is the Lofoten Islands. But just so you know that it's not only us who rave about the Lofoten Islands, the National Geographic have the following words to say "Chilly, high-latitude islands form a 'masterpiece' of spectacular outcrops steeped in cherished tradition".

Day 1

Your direct flight from London Gatwick Airport departs at 1330 and arrives at Harstad/Evenes Airport at 1750 local time (Norway is one hour ahead of the UK). Met on arrival and transferred by coach to the Lofoten Islands and Svolvær. Transfer time is approximately 3 hours and who knows, perhaps the Northern Lights will make an appearance enroute?!

4 nights SVOLVÆR - Rica Hotel Svolvær***Plus

Day 2

Breakfast served at the hotel followed by a guided walk through Svolvær, 'capital' of the Lofoten Islands. A visit to the War Museum and The North Norwegian Artsenter will be made along the way. Lunch served at the hotel. Possible optional afternoon excursion: Sea Eagle Safari on RIB boats or Nature Safari on a bigger boat (guide will advise locally). Dinner is served at the hotel during the evening followed by a search for the Northern Lights.

Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel before a guided tour through Lofoten visiting small fishing villages and enjoying the dramatic and picturesque nature in what National Geographic refers to as 'amongst the most beautiful in the world'. A visit will be made to the glass-blower at Vikten. Lunch served at one of the fishing villages. During the afternoon there is a guided tour at the Lofotr Viking Museum and dinner (2 courses, main + dessert) is served in the Chieftain's house.

Day 4

Breakfast at the hotel with the morning at your own disposal. Lunch served at the hotel before travelling to Hov via fishing village of Henningsvær. Hov is one of the best places from which to see the Northern Lights and hopefully they will make an appearance! Free time at Hov with a variety of activities available. Dinner served at Hov during the early evening before returning to the hotel.

Day 5
