Denmark is the smallest and most southern of the Scandinavian countries, connected to continental Europe at her southern peninsula and bordered to the east by the Baltic Sea and the west by the North Sea.
Denmark offers a delightful mix of city life with the gentler pace of her countryside. Her cosmopolitan and lively capital city, Copenhagen, is the largest of the Scandinavian capitals and offers the opportunity to visit Tivoli Gardens, her grand old amusement park in the heart of the city centre. The Little Mermaid sits patiently in the waterfront and is a popular photo opportunity!
Denmark boasts numerous quaint little towns lined with half-timbered houses, medieval churches and Renaissance castles along with a lovely coastline peppered with tiny fishing villages and long white-sand beaches. Her history is also preserved in a number of Viking ruins including the fleet of Viking ships that were excavated from the Roskilde Fjord and the 'bog people', 2000 year old preserved bodies.
For such a small country there is much to see and do - although we recommend doing nothing for part of the time too!
